The Slater School Board met Thursday night to approve changes in its mask mandate that would go into effect Friday, November 5.
Board President Joey Gochenour told the board a decision must be made during the meeting, despite it being a controversial topic.
Gochenour said voting in a percentage threshold could be an option.
Superintendent Debbie Gonzalez explained more on how the 10-4 percent threshold would work.
Board member, Matt Campbell, asked how the district would go about determining quarantines and close-contacts with the threshold. Superintendent Gonzales explained how the health officials track close-contacts.
After further discussion, Board Vice President Jayme England stated the motion for the board to vote on.
The board approved the motion 5-1. Per recommendation from MSTA, DESE and the Missouri School Board, the topic is scheduled to be revisited every 30 days in an open-session at a later school board meeting.
