Celia “Adeline” Hicks, age 87, of Sturgeon, MO, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs.

Born October 18, 1934, in Weaubleau, MO, she was the daughter of the late Richard Downs and Rosa Byrd Downs. On July 26, 1952, at Hermitage United Methodist Church in Hermitage, MO, she married Denzel Robert “Jack” Hicks who survives of the home. Adeline was a school secretary for the Sweet Springs Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; one daughter, Linda Evans of Concordia, MO; two sons, Craig Hicks of Sweet Springs, MO and Kevin Hicks (Julie) of Sturgeon; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Downs; one sister, Wanda Lea Dickinson; and one granddaughter, Ralinda Merrick.
