The Santa Fe Lady Chiefs are looking for their eighth state volleyball championship, and their first since 2015, when they compete in the Class 1 semifinals this evening in Cape Girardeau.

Unbeaten at 25-0, Santa Fe has a 6 p.m. match when the Lady Chiefs meet Miller, which owns a record of 32-3-1. The other semifinal-round match has 26-5-1 South Iron taking on 31-1-1 Gideon.

The schools that reached the Final Four at the Class 2 level are Jefferson of Festus, Hermann, Skyline and St. Joseph Le Blond. First- and third-place matches in Class 1 and 2 will be tomorrow.

Classes 3, 4 and 5 kicked the weekend off with their semifinal-round pairings yesterday.

The title match in Class 3 today has Strafford meeting Blair Oaks, while in Class 4 Westminster Christian will battle Logan-Rogersville; and in Class 5, Lee’s Summit West takes on Cor Jesu Academy.

Those classes had their third-place matches occur last night with Valle of Ste. Genevieve beating Kansas City Notre Dame de Sion 3-0 in Class 3. In Class 4, Pembroke Hill blanked St. Louis Nerinx Hall 3-0; in Class 5, St. Dominic of O’Fallon edged Columbia Rock Bridge 3-2 for third place.
