A 28-year-old Kansas City woman is facing multiple felony charges after a reported high-speed pursuit in Lafayette County on October 28.
According to a report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, he says he clocked an eastbound vehicle traveling at 91 miles per hour and attempted a stop on I-70. The vehicle’s driver refused to stop, increasing the suspect’s vehicle’s speed to 95 mph. The driver maintained speeds between 84 and 100 mph for about 20 miles, when the vehicle’s tires were deflated by spikes near Concordia. Bri’Anna Renee Mitchell veered the vehicle into the median and attempted to flee, but she was pinned between the door frame and the driver’s door as the vehicle rolled into the cable barrier. Authorities noted four distraught children inside Mitchell’s vehicle.
According to court documents, Mitchell is charged with four counts of a felony for endangering the welfare of a child and a felony for resisting arrest. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Mitchell pleaded not guilty during her preliminary hearing on November 2. Her next hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
