Nearly 47 percent of the Lafayette County population has initiated the vaccination process against COVID-19.

Lafayette County Health Department officials say that per the CDC, 46.8 percent of Lafayette County residents have received their first dose of their vaccine series; and 41.7 percent of county residents have been fully vaccinated, which means they are two weeks post their second shot of either Pfizer or Moderna or two weeks post their shot of J&J.

With 11 new PCR cases on Monday, November 8, the health department has confirmed a total of 3,693 cases of COVID-19 for the county since the beginning of the pandemic. The COVID-19-related death total remains 74.

There currently are 47 active cases, and five persons are hospitalized due to the virus.

There have been 32 new PCR cases since the health department’s last weekly report on Tuesday, November 2.

COVID-19 walk-in vaccination clinics are scheduled to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the month of November at the health department at 547 South Business Highway 13 in Lexington.
