During the meeting of the Slater City Council on Tuesday, November 16, City Administrator Gene Griffith discussed its financial report, in which the council reviewed the revised budget.

Griffith says the city overspent on street taxes.

While revising the budget, councilmen Terry Jordon said the council knew the outcome would be higher because spending’s were communicated throughout each process. Both readings of the budget revision were unanimously approved for the remaining Fiscal Year 2021.

In other news, Mayor Dr. Stephen Allegri addressed rumors following the decision to close his business on Saturdays.

During his report, Mayor Allegri noted four council member’s seats are up for reelection.

The deadline for the candidate filing for the April 2022 election is Tuesday, December 28.
