After a fire damaged part of Marshall High School last week, administrators have been working on a plan to continue classes, even if they can’t always be in person for a while.
During the school board meeting on Monday, November 22, Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher said only the carpeted area of the building is closed for the time being- meaning areas like the commons and gymnasium still can and will be utilized.
MHS Principal Christy Jones explained the plan beginning Monday, November 29.
Jones clarified that when she said allowed, she meant required.
As for now, Jones says students can come out to the high school from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, to pick up anything they need from their lockers. She said staff will be there to bring the items to the students.
Jones said the school will be providing another opportunity for students on Monday, November 29, at a time to be determined- if, for some reason, they cannot make it to the school on Tuesday, November 23.
Jones also talked about plans for other classes and needs, including EOCs and “Back on Track”.
Jones also said band students can use the building.
Dr. Maher said teachers and staff will be on contracted time from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The Paras are out in the district helping where needed. She said if parents have any questions or concerns, call the school.
