A Marshall man who was facing multiple felony charges following incidents earlier this year has been sentenced to spend more than a decade in state prison.

According to the Marshall Police Department, Justin Ethan Scharnhorst was taken into custody in April on several active warrants in reference to domestic assault investigations.

According to court documents, on Monday, November 22, Scharnhorst pleaded guilty to amended felonies of domestic assault in the third degree, unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting, kidnapping in the second degree and armed criminal action at Saline County Circuit Court.

The judge sentenced Scharnhorst to seven years on the domestic assault (count one) and unlawful use of a weapon (count two) charges; eight years on the kidnapping (count three) charge as a prior and persistent offender; and three years on the armed criminal action (count four) charge in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Sentences for counts one through three are to run concurrent to each other, with the sentence for count four to run consecutively to count three.
