Robert Glenn “Bob” Eichholz, age 83, of Sweet Springs, MO, died Friday, November 26, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sweet Springs or the Community Cancer Center of Marshall, in care of the funeral home.

Bob was born on August 17, 1938 in rural Pettis County, Missouri near Stokley, to Harry Lee Eichholz and Ethel I. (Anderson) Eichholz.  He was raised in the Baptist faith at County Line Baptist Church.  He graduated from LaMonte High School in 1956.

Bob served honorably in the United States Army, First Armored Division, at Fort Hood, Texas as a tracked vehicle mechanic.  On October 24, 1970, he married Janet S. Brandt of Sweet Springs, and made his home in Sweet Springs for the remainder of his life.  He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Bob was a skilled mechanic: methodical and patient.  He worked at Berry Chevrolet (later Twenter-Horst and Worley Motors) in Sweet Springs, where he and Janet met, for many years, before opening his own shop in 1993.  Bob “retired” in 2001, going on to work in maintenance at Concordia High School for 15 more years, where he treasured his co-workers and the kids at school.

Bob was a devoted husband, dad, and “Papa.”  He always put his family first, and rarely missed a basketball game, concert, or recital, no matter how tired he may have been from the day.   Although Bob was a quiet man, he never met a stranger.  He had a dry sense of humor (always accompanied by a sly smile), and a kind and gentle heart.  He was an avid racing fan, and enjoyed researching family history and genealogy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Fisher; sister, Anna Katherine Eichholz (in infancy);  brother, Harry Eldon Eichholz; sister-in-law, Barbara (Johnson) Eichholz; nephew, Mark C. Eichholz; and father and mother-in-law, Herman W. “Bill” Brandt, Jr. and Eva Mae Brandt.

Bob is survived by his wife Janet, of the home; daughter Allison Schowengerdt and husband Brian of Sweet Springs; daughter, Erin Heimsoth Chrisman and husband Floyd Chrisman of Sweet Springs; and son, Jared Eichholz and wife Angie of Sweet Springs.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Elwood Fisher of Lamar; his sister-in-law, Carol Brandt of Sweet Springs; grandchildren, Chris Heimsoth, Jacob Schowengerdt, Malori Chrisman, Seth Heimsoth, Megan Heimsoth, Hadley Eichholz, Coulter Chrisman, and Halen Eichholz;  one great-grandson, Hunter Heimsoth; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
