The Marshall Community Chorus has announced that after being sidelined by COVID in 2020, its festive audience favorite Christmas Concerts are back for 2021.
A news release says the 40-voice choir, under the direction of Ron Sayer and accompanied by Derik Wittman, is scheduled to present two performances of “A Hometown Christmas” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 12.
The concert will feature traditional seasonal favorites, the sort of songs you would hear in Hometown U.S.A.
In addition to the community chorus, the concerts also will feature selections performed by the Marshall High School Choraliers, under the direction of Michael O’Neill. Featuring a local choir is a tradition that was begun by Sayer during his first stint as director of the Marshall Community Chorus in the late 1990s.
Both performances will be held in the sanctuary of the Covenant Presbyterian Church at the corner of East Yerby Street and South Lincoln Avenue in Marshall.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Given the current health situation, the choir encourages you to consider wearing a mask if attending the performance.
