The leader of an area police force is moving on next month.

According to a release from Warrensburg Police Chief Rich Lockhart, he will be resigning his position effective January 7, 2022.

Lockhart says, “I have accepted an offer to lead the Lawrence, Kansas, Police Department as its next police chief.  It has been the highlight of my 31-year law-enforcement career to lead this amazing police department for the past 5+ years.”

Lockhart adds, “This was a difficult decision for me, and I will miss this fantastic community very much.”
