The Boonville Police Department’s- “Shopping with local cops”- hosted its third event this year and was able to sponsor 45 kids, more than doubling the number from the first year in 2019.
According to the Boonville P.D., the project, was started to help create positive relationships between law-enforcement officers and youth within the community while funding several children the opportunity to shop for necessities as well as things they want to make their Christmas a great one.
The project is funded solely off donations from businesses and local individuals living in or around Cooper County.
Police officials say, “Without the support of local businesses and the community, this event would not be what it is, and is something the department hopes to continue in the coming years.”
