The number of students and staff in quarantine due to COVID-19 protocols has dropped dramatically in the Odessa R-7 School District.

According to district officials, as of November 15, there were 68 students and staff in quarantine. But as of Monday, December 6, that number had plummeted to 18. There currently are four active cases in the district.

There has been a total of 127 positive COVID-19 cases in the district since the beginning of the school year- an increase of 22 from the previous update.

They break down as: 41 at OHS; 35 at OMS; 33 at OUE; and 19 at CCC McQ.

Total student enrollment is 2,006, and there are 325 staff members in the district.

District officials say, “When we receive notification of a positive case, district staff performs a contact trace. If it is determined a student has been in close contact with a positive case, a parent or guardian will be notified.”
