Walter P. Powers, 85, of Marshall, died Thursday, December 9, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born July 24, 1936, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Carden R. Powers Sr. and Edna Frances Davis Powers. On July 22, 2010, he married Margie Drew who survives of the home. Walter lived in Marshall most of his life and worked for the City of Marshall as a garbage collector. He attended Southside Assembly of God Church in Marshall.

In addition to his wife, Margie; he is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Lee of Springfield and Marilyn Baldwin of Marshall; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Blasengym of Stockton, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Patrick Ray Powers and Roger Powers; one grandson, Anthony Michael “Tony” Powers; three brothers: James, Robert Lee and Carden R. Powers, Jr.; and one sister, Mary F. Wise.
