mac-award

During the Saline County Commission meeting on Thursday, December 9, commissioners announced Saline County has been awarded a MAC award – recognizing the county’s efforts for economic development at the Marshall Junction.

Northern District Commissioner, Stephanie Gooden, said an application was submitted to the Missouri Association of Counties – on behalf on of Saline County.

Gooden said the problem-solution submitted on the application stated Saline County had a lack of water infrastructure at the Marshall Junction, causing businesses to shut-down because well water was not approved by sanitation guidelines. The county then conducted a traffic study of the I-70 and U.S. Highway 65 intersection to grasp feasibility and visibility of the location.

Gooden said with the passage of the Economic Development Tax, passed with a majority vote in the April 2018 election, the county was able to see positive results at Marshall Junction.

In other news, Gooden says the Commission will be accepting bids at the courthouse in Marshall.
