Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver II announced the Marshall-Odell Municipal Airport and Higginsville Industrial Municipal Airport together will soon receive a total of $269,000 in formula funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for fiscal year 2022.
According to a news release, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, otherwise known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, was the formula funding is the first-year allocation of the investment to modernize America’s airport infrastructure over the next five years.
Congressman Cleaver says, “The Marshall and Higginsville airports are critical to the communities they serve, and I’m beyond thrilled to announce that they will soon begin to receive $269,000 thanks to President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This funding is going to help these local airports repair and renovate critical infrastructure, which will not only provide better safety and service for passengers, but it will create good-paying jobs while doing so. I was proud to join Senator Blunt as the only members of Missouri’s congressional delegation to vote for this long overdue investment in our national infrastructure, and I will continue working on a bipartisan basis to meet the needs of Missourians across the Fifth District.”
According to the FAA, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is scheduled to deliver:
- $159,000 to Marshall-Odell Municipal Airport; and
- $110,000 to Higginsville Industrial Municipal Airport.
Officials say, in addition to the $269,000 in formula funding, the Marshall and Higginsville airports will have the opportunity to apply for $5 billion in grant funding from the FAA Terminal Program and will provide grant funding for terminal development and other landside projects.
