
A Marshall man recently competed in the American Powerlifting Association competition and set a record in the U.S. Open Division.
Brad Straub says the American record for the squat record was set at 390 pounds on July 31, 2016. The world record for the squat was set at 405 pounds on March 4, 2014. Straub broke both records at 420 pounds.
Straub also says he tied for the American record in the full powerlifting competition.
He says resistance training and weightlifting is a key to living a healthy life, anyone at any age can start.
Straub says to compete in competitions like powerlifting, it takes year-round discipline and dedication – with the right nutrient and training anyone can lift weights.
