
James R. Latimer, age 88, of Miami, died Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Brunswick Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brunswick.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, at the Missouri State Veterans’ Cemetery in Higginsville, with Rev. Randy Shannon officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, December 20, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Memorials are suggested to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Men’s Fellowship or the American Legion Post #558, in care of the funeral home.
Born November 9, 1933 in Miami, he was the son of the late Robert R. and Allyne Garrett Latimer. On August 21, 1959 at the Bridal Cave, he married Wanda Mae Sullivan, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving is a son, Robert J. Latimer of Miami; a grandson, C.J. Latimer of Springfield; and two sisters, Royanne L. Freeman of Paducah, Kentucky, and Jane Lars of Belton, Missouri.
Mr. Latimer was member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall, and its Men’s Fellowship. He was a 1951 graduate of Slater High School, where he was active in the FFA. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era, and a member of the American Legion Post #558 in Malta Bend. He was a life-long farmer.
