In addition to the purchase of a weigh belt feeder, Travis Boss recommended the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ board make a motion to purchase a transition chute and knife gate value for Slaker No. 3, during MMU’s regular meeting on Thursday, December 16.

Boss, Director of Water Treatment, told the board the current value does not work.

Boss says he received a $5,183 quote for a transition chute and knife gate value. The board approved the motion to proceed with the purchase recommended by Boss.

Tony Bersano also presented an action item to the board.

Bersano says each year the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Total Suspended Solid (TSS) rates are adjusted for industrial customers based on load levels the the wastewater plant and MMU’s annual expenses.

Bersano proposed the board decrease the BOD charge from $.23 to $.22 per pound, and keep the TSS charge at $.22 per pound, effective January 1, 2022.

The board told Bersano the Marshall City Council would have to approve the rate change before it could go into effect.
