
Judy Kern Butcher, 73, of Slater, died Tuesday, December 21, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, at First Baptist Church in Slater, with Rev. Cliff Cato officiating. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery, with Kory Kern, Joey Gochenour, Ben Gochenour, Max Householder, Doug Morris, and Tyler Key serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Graham and Joe Damiano. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Slater, or the Youth Department of Southside Assembly of God Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home.
Born February 15, 1948 in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Wright and Mattie Garrett Wright DeGraffenreid. On May 2, 2009 in Marshall, she married Kenneth T. Butcher, and he survives of the home.
She is survived by a son, Shane Kern and his wife Kimberli of Rogers, Arkansas; four daughters, Jodi Kern King and her husband Gary of Marshall, Monica Morris and her husband Doug of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Angela Gochenour and her husband Joey of Slater, and Kendra Householder and her husband Max of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Kaitlin Kern Graham and her husband Nicholas, Kory Kern and his fiance Madeline Telford, Lorin King, Halee Morris, Addison Morris, Ben Gochenour, Maddy Gochenour, Stella Householder, and Graham Householder. She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Wright.
Mrs. Butcher attended Southside Assembly of God Church in Marshall. She had worked as a Youth Specialist at the Waverly Regional Youth Center in Waverly, Missouri for eleven years until her retirement. She enjoyed playing cards and loved sharing in activities with her family. She was married to the love of her life, Kenny Butcher.
