A 27-year-old Wooldridge woman facing a felony charge after a reported incident on October 27 is due in court.

A probable-cause statement says Elizabeth Willis’ dog entered her neighbor’s yard and fought with a pitbull. During the fight, Willis entered the neighbor’s yard to retrieve her dog. She could not separate the two dogs, and another neighbor provided her a shotgun. She allegedly fired the gun, and the pellets struck her neighbor’s dog in its left hind quarters.

Willis admitted to being in her neighbor’s yard when she fired the shot. A spent 12-gauge shotgun shell was recovered from the neighbor’s yard, and the shotgun was seized.

During her booking process, Willis stated that she had used heroin shortly before the incident had occurred.

Court documents say Willis is charged with a felony for unlawful use of a weapon while intoxicated and a misdemeanor for animal abuse. Willis posted surety bond on November 15.

A warrant was issued for Willis after she failed to appear in court on November 30. Bond is set at $7,500 cash or surety.

A bond forfeiture hearing is scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
