tony-day-honored-12-28-21

Tony Day has spent most of his adult life serving the citizens of Marshall. He moved up the ranks and became the Marshall Fire Chief several years ago. Now it’s time for him to hang up his firefighting gear and call it a career.

During its meeting on Monday, December 27, the city council honored Day.

Mayor Julie Schwetz thanked him for his 37 years of service.

Day- who has been fire chief for nine-plus years- says it’s been a rewarding career.

Day was given a standing ovation by the council and persons in attendance.

Day will be fire chief until Monday, January 3. At that time, current assistant chief Sheldon Kirksiek will become fire chief.

Day says he will continue in his role as the Saline County Emergency Management Agency Director.
