A 24-year-old Sedalia man charged with multiple felonies relating to an incident in Johnson County on August 26 changed his plea to some of the charges on December 20.
According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Department report, authorities say Justice Ryan Taylor entered a residence without permission while the resident wasn’t home. When the resident returned home, Taylor is alleged to have had a knife in his hand and used it to force, intimidate and coerce the resident into a vehicle. The alleged victim told authorities Taylor hit them in the chest to get them to get into the vehicle. The alleged victim said Taylor forced them to drive to Sedalia. The vehicle was stopped about an hour and half later, and Taylor was located under blankets in the van.
According to court documents, Taylor was charged with felonies for kidnapping in the first degree, burglary in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting; as well as misdemeanors for domestic assault in the fourth degree and violation of a protection order.
Taylor, who pleaded not guilty on November 29, changed his plea to guilty to a couple of the charges on December 20.
As part of a plea agreement, the court dismissed counts one, two and three. Taylor’s sentence of one year in the county jail on each of counts four and five was suspended, and Taylor was placed on two years of supervised probation.
