Edward J. Petrie, 76, of Marshall, died Sunday, January 2, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Rev. Terry Jordan officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to family choice and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Edward was born March 9, 1945, in New York, New York, to Josephine Medford Petrie, and was raised by his aunt, Dorothy Saiar.  He was raised in the New York area and graduated from high school there in 1962.  He joined the United States Army and retired as a Sergeant First Class after more than 22 years of service.  On May 12, 1979, he married Mona Faye Moore who survives of the home.  Edward and Mona moved to Marshall in 1995 and he then worked for Missouri Valley College in the maintenance department as well as working as a janitor for the college.  He was a member of American Legion Post 558 in Malta Bend.

In addition to his wife, Mona; he is survived by three children: Edward J. Petrie Jr. (Elizabeth) of Marshall, Loretta Breshears (Michael) of Carrollton, and Robert Wayne Petrie of Sedalia; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Wagner of Marshall; as well as other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five grandchildren; one sister and one brother.
