A Sarasota, Florida, man has been sentenced to two decades in state prison.

According to authorities, Chad Straughn was arrested by the Waverly Police Department on March 29, 2021, for a variety of felony offenses stemming from a traffic stop conducted in the City of Waverly. Straughn pleaded guilty to felonies for unlawful possession of a firearm, trafficking drugs in the second degree and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony on November 15.

During the hearing, it was mentioned that Straughn has had nine prior felony convictions and an additional active felony case in the state of Florida.

On Monday, January 3, Straughn appeared before the court in Lafayette County for sentencing. After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Dennis Rolf sentenced Straughn to 20 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Straughn will now serve his time in the Missouri Department of Corrections before being extradited back to the State of Florida.
