An area murder suspect is due in court Wednesday, January 5.

According to Benton County authorities, 28-year-old Lance Lyman, of Warsaw, was shot and died on July 18, 2021, before he could be life-flighted from the Warsaw Ambulance Base. An investigation led authorities to arrest John Moreno, of Warsaw.

Court documents say Moreno is charged with murder in the second degree, two counts of armed criminal action and assault in the first degree. Moreno is being held with no bond at the Benton County Jail.

Moreno pleaded not guilty on July 20.

His next hearing is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. at Benton County Circuit Court.
