sentencing-guilty-court

After changing his plea to some of the sex-related felony charges in November, a Concordia resident was due to be sentenced this week at Lafayette County Circuit Court. However, that court proceeding was postponed.

According to a probable-cause statement, on May 10, a 13-year-old girl alleged that Caleb Michael Ingalls had been raping her. She also alleged Ingalls had assaulted her by throwing her to the ground and stomping on the side of her head.

Ingalls told authorities that regarding the alleged rape, the girl had seduced him, and the sex was consensual. And regarding the alleged assault, he said the girl had kicked him first.

According to court documents, as part of a plea deal, Ingalls withdrew his not-guilty plea and pleaded guilty to two felonies, including statutory rape or attempted statutory rape in the first degree with a person less than 14 years old. The court dismissed the charge of domestic assault in the third degree.

Ingalls was scheduled to be sentenced on Monday, January 3. But after hearing arguments from counsel, the court continued the sentencing hearing to 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, at Lafayette County Circuit Court. Also, Probation and Parole is to provide a supplemental report.
