The National Weather service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that includes the entire KMMO listening area.

With the bitter temperatures rolling in, the Marshall Homeless Shelter and Services has compiled a list of designated warming stations in the city:

  • A House for Stories Bookshop, located at 111 East Arrow Street, is open for warming from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
  • Bud’s Cafe, located at 157 South Lafayette Avenue, is scheduled to be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, and from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
  • The Salt Fork YMCA, at 740 East Yerby Street, is scheduled to be open from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursdays; from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. The YMCA offers shower vouchers to those in need.
  • The Marshall Public Library also serves as a warming station, located at 214 North Lafayette Avenue. The library is scheduled to be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. (Closed January 15, 2022)

Officials say each warming station offers hygiene and snack kits to those in need.
