Central Missouri is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 p.m. Saturday, January 15, and an area city’s government reminds citizens about regulations.

According to the Carrollton Police Department, the town is declaring a snow emergency, as forecasted snow accumulations are estimated to exceed two inches which could impact roadways and other hard surfaces, such as sidewalks and driveways.

Officials say with the forecast for snow, the town enacted to Emergency Snow Route, until further notice. Vehicles are prohibited from parking on certain streets, and are subject to towing during the declared emergency.

When more than 2 inches of snow, sleet and/or ice is expected within a 24-hour period, the city declares a snow emergency, and the Emergency Snow Routes are put into effect. Parking is prohibited along Emergency Snow Routes once the snow emergency occurs – there are over a dozen routes that fall under this declaration.
