Representing the Sweet Springs Ambulance District, Dennis Dohrman was at this month’s meeting of the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen to follow up on the November meeting about his request for money from the city for Sweet Springs Hospital. He reminded the board he had asked for $5,000 now and an additional $10,000 in the fall. He said these funds will help with the legal fees for the upcoming ballot measure to form the hospital district.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, Dohrman said physical therapy is open and seeing patients; and the restaurant is open, as well, at the facility at Exit 66 just north of I-70. Dohrman said the hope is that the doctors’ offices will be open by this summer at the facility formerly known as I-70 Community Hospital, which was closed in February 2019 due to a failure of the owner/management company.

After some discussion, the board decided to table a decision until a later meeting.

In other news, aldermen approved the recommendation of the appointments of Lee Nienhueser, Kris Raven, Allison Schowengerdt, Darla Reid and Steve Pearson to the Transient Guest Tax Committee.
