A Howard County school district has announced it will be closed for the remainder of the week.

According to school officials at New Franklin R-I Schools, due to a high number of COVID-related absences in teachers and staff, school will not be in session Thursday and Friday, January 20 and 21.

In sports, officials say the girl’s varsity basketball game scheduled for tomorrow night against Glasgow has been postponed to 5 p.m. Monday, February 7.

The district is scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 24.
