On Wednesday, January 19, an area school district reported over one hundred staff members were absent due to illness and personal reasons.

The Sedalia 200 School District says 108 staff members were out and only 21 substitutes were available.

Along with the absences, the district says with the forecast calling for wind chills to be between -10 and -15 degrees on Thursday and Friday, school officials have ruled to cancel classes January 20 and 21.

Officials reminder parents that when Sedalia 200 cancels school, the Boys & Girls Club of West Central Missouri is also closed to students.
