
Last week, Higginsville Police officers were summoned into action to aid the Independence Police Department in locating three subjects who were believed to have been involved in a shooting in Independence.
A press release says, on January 13, Independence detectives believed that these subjects were possibly in Higginsville. HPD officers were advised that Independence detectives and their Fugitive Apprehension Unit were en route to take these subjects into custody.
HPD officers were able to locate the subjects at a residence in Higginsville. Five HPD officers and two Lafayette County deputies responded to the residence and detained the three subjects. The three subjects and evidence at the scene were later released to Independence Detectives.
One of the subjects detained by HPD in the investigation has been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
