Joel T. Self, age 44, of Marshall, MO, died Sunday, January 16, 2022, while working at Apple Ridge Care Center in Waverly.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 24, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Peninsula Cemetery near Blackwater. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Born November 3, 1977, in Marshall, he was the son of George Richard Self and Patricia Johnston Cook who both survive. Joel was raised in the home of his uncle and aunt, Robert Self and Elizabeth Self who was “Mom” to Joel. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1997 and worked as a nurse’s aide and medical technician at various nursing homes through the years.

In addition to his parents, George Self of Sierra Vista, AZ and Patricia Cook of Lake Ozark; and his “Mom”, Elizabeth Self of Marshall; he is survived by two daughters, Hope Self of Sedalia and Mariyah Minor of Glasgow; two siblings, Bradley Self and Kristi Mullins (Toby), all of Marshall; his cousins who were siblings to him: Robert Linn Self (Rayetta) of Marshall, Clay Self of Marshall, and Mike Self (Carrie) of Boone, IA; three half siblings: James, Jeremy and Jason Cook; his companion of 17 years, Linda Vieyra of the home, and her children: Matthew, Brian and Johnathon Vieyra; as well as other extended family.
