Following the report of an accidental shooting on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, felony charges were filed against a 25-year-old Benton county man who is due in court.

A probable-cause statement says Benton County authorities responded to the report of an accidental shooting in the Bent Tree Harbor subdivision in Warsaw. Upon arrival, deputies located 28-year-old Tarah D. McIntyre, of the residence, who died at the scene despite authorities attempting life-saving measures. After further investigation, Jason L. Kroenke, of the same residence, was arrested.

Kroenke told authorities he and McIntyre were the only two people in the bedroom and had been doing meth since 10 p.m. Monday, November 22. After getting into an argument, Kroenke said he was standing with his back to McIntyre. He said McIntyre threatened to kill herself, and as he turned around the gun went off.

Authorities say Kroenke’s account was inconsistent with the evidence at the crime scene.

Court documents say Kroenke is charged with felonies for first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Appointments are required.

Kroenke pleaded not guilty on November 30. His next hearing is scheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, at Benton County Circuit Court.
