
In the month of December, Missouri REALTORS sold 8,059 residential properties.
According to a news release, of those sales, the average residential property sold for $263,574. Compared to the average sale price of $235,861 in December 2020, there was an 11.7 percent increase. The median residential sale price also increased, from $198,800 in 2020 to $220,000 in 2021.
Officials say in terms of total dollar volume, Missouri REALTORS saw an increase of 15.4 percent. Over $2.1 billion in December of 2021 was generated compared to $1.8 billion for the same period last year.
Additionally, interest rates saw an increase in December but continue to remain historically low. According to Freddie Mac, the national average commitment rate for a 30-year, conventional, fixed-rate mortgage was 3.10 percent in December compared to 3.07 percent in November. By comparison, the interest rate in December 2020 was 2.68 percent.
Regarding year-end figures, 96,764 homes sold in Missouri from January to December. The total yearly sales volume topped $25 billion, and the median sales price for the year increased 27.9 percent compared to the same period in 2020, coming in at $220,000.
