Area authorities are warning motorists to avoid the area west of U.S Highway 50 near Warrensburg.

According to the Johnson County Fire Protection District, four stations have been assigned to battle a large commercial structure fire, which has as spread to natural cover along the highway.

As firefighters haul water to the scene, authorities ask travelers to avoid the area and give personnel space to work.
