An area fire protection district has issued a Burn Ban.

According to a release from the Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District, burning is not being allowed in the district due to dry conditions.

Officials say a small controlled burn or throwing a cigarette out the window of a moving vehicle easily can turn into a grass fire.

The Burn Ban will be in effect until further notice.
