Saline County Public Water Supply District No. 3 has started putting in new transmitters that are cellular.

District officials say, at this time, about 650 of 1159 meters have this capability. It allows the resident and the district to monitor the amount of water going through the meters.

Officials say, “This is a fantastic tool when someone has water flowing through the meter for over 24 hours. That is also known as a leak at PWSD3. You can be a detective and discover down to every 15 minutes how much water is being used at your house if you use a computer.”

The cellular endpoints transmit four times a day during the week and once a day on weekends.

District officials say, “After signing up at the website listed, you will be able to see how much water you use, and even when you are using water. You will be able to set an alarm to e-mail you when water has been going through your meter for 24 hours. At this time, a shorter time frame is not possible, but that would be ideal.”

To sign up, click on the link and fill out the information: <https://eyeonwater.com/signup>.

Fill in your zip and your account number to get started. Your account number is on your bill, or you can call or e-mail the district.

There are also mobile apps that can be downloaded for your smartphones, so you can always be aware of your water use. Search for EyeOnWater (all one word) in the app stores. The apps show hourly use and do not go to every 15 minutes at this time.
