An area health department has issued an announcement specifically for seniors- 60 years and older- who live in the county.

Officials say, the Chariton County Health Center received funding through the Chariton County Senior Services Fund, which will allow seniors to receive blood draws or injections (allergy shots not included) at the Chariton County Health Center without paying the Chariton County Health Center’s administration fee of $10.

The senior tax funding also will allow the health center to purchase the shingles vaccine- Shingrix- which is two shots at least two months apart. Both doses of the shingles vaccine will be free through this funding. However, this funding is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
