Melba June Merrick, 83 of Sedalia, MO passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.

Melba was born June 17, 1938, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late James Edward and Rebecca Bernice (Blackwell) Merrick. She attended area schools. She graduated bible school from the Christ of the Nations College.

She was an active member of the Liberty Life Church in Sedalia. Melba was very involved in the Girl Scouts as a Troop leader and Camp staff when the girls were younger. She was the owner/operator of the Bread of Life Bible and Bookstore for several years, located in downtown Sedalia. She later was the administrative assistant for the Missouri State Fair Marketing Department, before her retirement.

She is survived by her daughters Debra L. Meyers (Anthony Weatherford) from Boonville and Dana E. Bohon Esser (Robert) of Sedalia; grandchildren Katelyn M Meyers (Daniel Skinner), Charles T. Meyers (Hannah B.M. Meyers) and Gheorghe V. Meyers, Kurt J. Hawley, Nicholas C. O’Neil (Laura), Rebecca E. Krouse, Raymond C. Krouse and John W. Krouse; great-grandchildren Brooklynn A.J. Meyers, Charles D.S. Meyers, Abegail A. Hawley, Elise R. Hawley, Parker J. Hawley, Jasper L. Krouse, Jensen E. W. Krouse and one on the way; brother James Edward Merrick (Anne) of Ocala, FL.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2:30pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, face masks are suggested.  Private family burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery later. There will be a Celebration of Melbas’ life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 6:30pm at Liberty Life Church.
