A Nevada, MO,  man has been charged with kidnapping and other felony charges after an incident on February 5.

According to a probable-case statement, Alexander Brian Linthicum and a woman met up in Kansas City, Missouri, to hang out. When they arrived at a grocery store, Linthicum allegedly got into the driver seat and would not allow the woman to drive her vehicle. He told the victim he was taking her to Florida after picking up a gun in the St. Louis area.

After attempting to exit the vehicle at a gas station, Linthicum allegedly assaulted the woman, causing injury to her head. During the incident the woman told authorities she convinced Linthicum to stop at 11674 Old Highway 40 in Boonville – where she grabbed the keys and ran into a nearby business. When Missouri State Highway Patrol units arrived, the suspect had fled the scene. Authorities found him hiding under a truck.

Court documents say Linthicum is charged with kidnapping, assault and receiving stolen property. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash only.

Linthicum’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
