The last Master Plan for Marshall Parks and Recreation was implemented in 2014. Now, it’s time of the department to update and have a new Master Plan drawn up.
Director Chad Unterreiner says most of what was in the last Master Plan was completed. In September 2021, the Park Board put out Request for Qualifications (RFQs), interviewed prospective firms and selected SWT Design of St. Louis.
Unterreiner says the first survey consists of 27 questions- including a few about demographics and about 20 related to the parks department.
Unterreiner says SWT has a four-phase plan.
Unterreiner says the Park Board and administration will then try to implement the plan.
Unterreiner says it will be about a 10- to 15-year plan, with the understanding there is flexibility with the time frame, and it could be up to 20 years. Right now, the focus is on getting people to fill out the surveys.
The survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MPR_01.
