
A Kansas City, MO, man has been charged with various felonies in Saline County after a high speed pursuit on February 10.
According to a probable-cause statement, Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Deron McCormick at the Betty Truck Stop near mile-marker 74 on I-70. Prior to the arrest McCormick allegedly fled from troopers after leaving the scene of a vehicle crash near High Hill, MO.
Upon the arrest, authorities located a 5-month-old child and a female passenger in the vehicle. Additionally a digital scale, approximately 10.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine, suspected MDMA pills and a loaded handgun and ammo were also found. The vehicle was allegedly not insured, licensed or registered.
Court documents say McCormick is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing. Bond has not been set.
McCormick was arraigned on Monday, February 14. His next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 16 at Saline County Circuit Court.
