The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for part of the KMMO listening area.
A release from the Johnson County Emergency Management Agency says heavy mixed precipitation is possible – with the total snow accumulations predicted to fall between three to five inches and ice accumulations of one tenth of an inch are possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
The Winter Storm Watch is scheduled be in effect from late Wednesday, February 16, through Thursday afternoon, February 17.
Authorities say motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility due to patchy blowing snow. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
Affected counties include Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Johnson, Lafayette and Saline Counties in the KMMO listening area.
NWS officials urge area residents to monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
