Formal charges have been filed after authorities arrested two area men following a traffic stop on Valentine’s Day.

According to a release from the Marshall Police Department, while on patrol at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stoplight and conducted a traffic stop. After the driver said he had been consuming marijuana, officers asked for consent to search the vehicle, and the driver consented.

During the search, officers say they found two handguns; a 30-round magazine; a 60-round drum magazine; a 9mm magazine; over 40 grams of Marijuana; 100-plus 2mg Xanax bars; and more than $20,000 in cash. Officers conducted a computer inquiry of the firearms and learned one gun was stolen.

According to court documents, 23-year-old Desmond Rashaud Glasgow, of Brunswick, is charged with two counts of a felony for delivery of a controlled substance and a felony for unlawful possession of a firearm. Also, 21-year-old Todd Arnold Robert Evans, of Newburg, is charged with a felony for unlawful possession of a firearm. Glasgow’s bond is set at $20,000. Evans’ bond is fixed at $10,000 cash or surety.

Glasgow’s initial arraignment is scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 16; while Evans’ initial hearing is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
