Felony charges have been filed against a 34-year-old Ray County woman after a couple of alleged incidents in Carroll County last month.
According to a sheriff’s deputy’s report, on January 22, a Norborne resident reported his shed had been broken into and some tools were stolen valued at $950. Five days later, two persons said Tabatha Renee Spicer, of Hardin, tried to sell the tools to them, but they refused to buy them.
Instead of returning the tools to their owner, Spicer and an accomplice threw them over a bridge on County Road 131 near County Road 300 north of Norborne.
On January 28, the owner of the tools and a friend of his went to retrieve the tools from the ditch and observed Spicer leaving the same area- where some of the stolen property was recovered by the sheriff’s office later. As Spicer and her accomplice left the area, the victim and his friend followed them in their vehicle.
On County Road 131 southwest of Norborne, Spicer stopped her vehicle, turned around and rammed the victim’s vehicle in the passenger’s side multiple times. Spicer’s accomplice- the name of whom still is not known- assaulted the victim of the theft with an ax and a broken ball bat, then fled the scene on foot and still is at large.
According to court documents, Spicer is charged with felonies for receiving stolen property and property damage in the first degree. Bond is set at $50,000 cash only- no 10-percent allowed.
Spicer’s initial hearing is pending at Carroll County Circuit Court.
