There is nearly a handful of active cases of COVID-19- but that’s still well below the level of three weeks ago- in a Lafayette County school district.

According to Lexington R-5 administrators, on January 28, there were 21 active cases. That number dropped to one as of February 11. On Friday, February 18, the active case count was four.

In all, there have been 234 total confirmed positive cases since the beginning of the school year. They break down as: 69 at LBS; 61 at LHS; 60 at LMS; 21 at each ECC and LLRTC; and two at BOE.

The percentages of students and/or staff excluded by building: one at LBS and LMS; and zero at ECC, LHS and LLRTC.

District administrators say, “If your student is considered a close contact, you will be notified by the district.”
