
A 34-year-old Sedalia man facing multiple felony charges after a reported disturbance on October 11, 2021, changed his plea and was sentenced in court this month.
A Sedalia Police report says the resident who reported the incident said somebody was trying to get into his residence and a gun was somehow involved. Upon arrival, one man was seen holding another man on the ground. The officer located the pistol, which contained two rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one in the chamber.
According to court documents, Christopher Hart was charged with felonies for unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting; assault in the third degree; and armed criminal action.
On February 7, Hart pleaded guilty to counts one and two, and the court dismissed count three.
Hart was sentenced to one to four years, with suspended execution of sentence.
On count one, Hart was placed on probation for five years under standard conditions of probation and parole and subject to the several special conditions: 1) Defendant shall attend and appropriately participate in a Victim Impact Panel program as directed by the Probation Officer; 2) Enter into and successfully complete any treatment program as required by P&P; 3) Consent to a search of his person, residence or vehicle upon request of law enforcement and/or P&P; 4) Defendant is not to possess or consume any alcohol or enter into any bars, taverns and/or casinos; and 5) Attend an OOA Prison Tour within six months of this order- and if Hart has been in prison within the past five years, this condition is waived; 6) Pay court costs; 7) $200 LERF to be paid in money order form to the PA office within 120 days. On count two, Hart was sentenced to 120 days in jail with work release to begin at 9 a.m. on February 14.
