A 19-year-old Texas man has been charged with a felony after an incident on Monday, February 14.
According to a probable-cause statement, officers responded to a call regarding an infant-child having difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, the mother of the child was identified. The father, Jaden Wayne Braudaway, falsely identified himself as William Braudaway. He told authorities he had put the infant down for bed while the mother was working. Braudaway says as he was doing household chores he noticed the baby gasping for air, then called the mother.
Upon further investigation, officers were informed by health officials the infant endured possible skull fractures. While interviewing Braudaway, he confessed to authorities he tried soothing the crying baby – after failed attempts, he shook the baby. The infant then began gasping for air.
Court documents say Braudaway is charged with abuse or neglect of a child resulting in serious emotional/physical injury. Bond has been set at $250,000 cash only.
He was arraigned on Tuesday, February 15. A counsel-status hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 23.
